Recent News

  • The WHF was selected as a potential recipient in the 2017 CFC Campaign. The CFC program allows federal employees to donate to selected charities. Encourage all federal employees and military personnel to donate to the WHF and use our CFC #88674.
  • The WHF participated in the Warrior Games in Chicago and the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada by providing Warrior Care Kits to all athletes. The WHF name was on signage in all the venues and on all programs. The WHF received sincere thanks from the athletes, the family and friends and the organizers.

The Wound Healing Foundation-3M 2018 Fellowship Award

The WHF, through the support of 3M Health Care, is pleased to announce the Wound Healing Foundation-3M Fellowship for the year 2018. This will mark the 19th anniversary of the 3M Fellow Award.

The WHF-3M Fellowship is a one-year $15,000 gift to stimulate scientific research and career development of a young investigator or junior faculty member pursuing a career in wound healing research.

The announcement of the 19th annual Fellow will be made Friday, April 27, 2018 at 4:15PM EST at the annual WHF meeting. Following the announcement, the 2017 WHF-3M Fellow awardee, Veronica Haywood, DPT, PhD from University Illinois Chicago will speak on the enzymatic protein glycosylation during normal and diabetic wound healing.

2018 WHF-Thomas Hunt Endowed Lecture Presenter Announced

The sixth annual WHF-Thomas K Hunt Endowed Lecture will be given by Elaine Fuchs, PhD. Dr. Fuchs is the Rebecca C. Lancefield Professor in the Laboratory of Mammalian Cell Biology and Development and an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at The Rockefeller University. It is there that she studies stem cell functions of making and repairing tissues. Her focus on stem cell communications with immune, dermal, and other cells in their environment and how this communication malfunctions in aging and cancers.

Dr. Fuchs has received numerous domestic and international awards. Recent awards include the McEwen Award for Innovation, E.B. Wilson Medal, and Pezcoller Foundation-AACR International Award. Other prestigious awards include White House Outstanding Scientist, Dickson Prize, L'Oréal-UNESCO Award, Pasarow Award, March of Dimes Prize and many more. She has also received a National Medal of Science and is a member of both the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medicine.

The 2018 WHF-Thomas K Hunt Endowed Lecture will be held at the WHS Annual Meeting in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, April 25, 2018; 8:15AM-9:15AM EST.
