Effective August 15, 2003, Augustine Medical, Inc. will discontinue selling Warm-Up therapy in the U.S.
With today's cost-sensitive healthcare environment, national coverage is often key to widespread adoption of medical products. Unfortunately, without national coverage, Augustine Medical has determined that it is not practical to sustain the Warm-Up therapy business.
Neuropathy is Key Predictor for Amputation
New research reported today by diabetic foot care experts shows that aggressive screening for evidence of nerve damage and sensory loss (neuropathy) will identify diabetes patients at the highest risk for severe, disease-induced foot problems, such as infection-prone skin ulcers and a debilitating deformity called Charcot foot. Left untreated, these complications put advanced-stage diabetes patients on a path to a lower-limb amputation.
