ACTICOAT* Site Silver-Coated Antimicrobial Barrier Dressing is an absorbent antimicrobial dressing that provides an effective barrier to microbial contamination, helping to protect the insertion site for up to seven days.
• Proprietary silver technology
• Provides an effective barrier to microbial contamination by protecting the insertion site from invasive pathogenic microorganisms
• Broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against over 150 organisms including 200 strains of MRSA and 5 organisms that carry the NDM-1 enzyme (in vitro)
• Provides bactericidal activity within 30 minutes
• May help reduce the risk of infection
• Seven day wear time
ACTICOAT* Site is indicated as a dressing for use around vascular and non-vascular percutaneous device sites such as intravenous catheter insertion sites and external fixation sites. ACTICOAT* Site may be used on infected insertion sites. Where the product is used on infected insertion sites, the infection should be inspected and treated as per local clinical protocol.
Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver or polyurethane. During MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination, remove from area within the anatomical field being imaged. Prior to administering radiation therapy, remove ACTICOAT*.
For external use only. ACTICOAT* is not compatible with oil-based products, such as petrolatum. Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements (e.g. EEG and ECG).
ACTICOAT* should only be used on premature infants (less than 37 weeks gestation) when the clinical benefit outweighs potential risks. No clinical data is available in this age group and only limited data is available for use in neonates.
ACTICOAT* is not intended to provide sole treatment for infected wounds.
ACTICOAT* may be used on infected wounds which are being managed per local clinical protocol.
May cause transient discoloring of surrounding skin.
Avoid exposure to temperatures above 120°F (50°C). Protect from light.

Intravenous catheter insertion sites
Where required, cleansing of the skin using sterile water around the wound should be performed according to local clinical protocol. Do not use saline.
Remove the ACTICOAT* Site dressing from the pack using an aseptic technique. The dressing should not be moistened prior to use.
Apply ACTICOAT* Site aseptically around the inserted device so that the device is completely surrounded by the dressing. The silver layer should be in contact with insertion site and the blue side of the dressing away from the skin.
Ensure that the pre-cut slit is oriented near or under the inserted device and that the edges of the slit meet to allow full contact with the surrounding skin.
Secure the dressing with an appropriate secondary retention dressing.
Remove film dressing and ACTICOAT* Site dressing in one piece by stretching the film parallel to the patient's skin while stabilizing the patient's skin and catheter with hand.
For detailed product information, including indications for use, contraindications, precautions and warnings, please consult the product's Instructions for Use (IFU) prior to use.
The dressing may be left in place for up to seven days, but will require earlier changing if a strikethrough of exudate occurs.
