Hypertrophic Scars/Keloids

Mode of Use/Application

Remove the product from its package. If necessary, use scissors to trim the product to allow an overlapping edge of approximately (1/2)" around the scar. Care should be taken not to leave any sharp indents in the material, which can lead to tearing. Holes may be cut in the material to accommodate fingers or toes. For circular holes, a sharp punch like a cookie cutter may work best. Peel away the paper protective liners and save for later use. Place the slightly more adherent side of the product against the scar. Multiple pieces of sheeting may be placed side-by-side for larger areas. Keep the product in place for at least 12 hours and up to 23 hours per day. A fixation aid such as tape, netting or a pressure garment may be needed to hold the product in place.

Removal & Change Frequency

At least once a day, wash the scarred area and both sides of the product with plain soap and warm water. Do not use a soap that contains moisturizers, lotions or oils. A plain basic soap is recommended. Rinse the product thoroughly to remove all traces of soap. Allow the product to air dry or pat it dry with a lint free towel before reapplying. Between uses, store the product on the paper protective liner.
