Mode of Use/Application

Nurses utilize the bedside display to assess the real-time pressure between the patient and the support surface. The display provides the visual and evaluative feedback on the effectiveness of repositioning and pressure redistribution. If patients are able to be turned, staff now understand the effectiveness, or ineffectiveness, of turns. If patients are unable to be turned, staff can now reduce pressure through support surface adjustments (inflation, HOB or FOB articulation) or through placement of offloading devices. Additionally, support surface effectiveness and appropriateness can be assessed through utilization of the device. Patients that are alert and oriented can also engage in their care and assist nursing staff in the avoidance of pressure injuries.
