Abstract

Non-healing infected wounds with excessive exudate and inflammation pose a significant problem for patients and healthcare systems worldwide.1 Whereas wound exudate is an essential component of natural wound healing, excessive exudate hinders the normal healing process, and results in leakage, soiling, odor and pain thus affecting the patients’ quality of life.2, 3 Therefore, research into innovative exudate management is necessary.
