Abstract

Outcomes and hospital costs are under-appreciated and under-studied, which hinders the achievement of consistent evidence based wound care-practice in the acute care environment. Selection of a bordered foam dressing that stayed on and maintained a healing wound environment for extended periods allowed us to meet our goal of standardizing the formulary dressing. A change in culture to see dressings as a valued partner in wound management facilitated full adoption of the new seven day routine dressing change protocol.
