March 2, 1939 – September 15, 2019

Dr. Edward Stout, PhD, was the founder of Southwest Technologies and the inventor of both Elasto-Gel™ and the first microwavable/dual hot/cold pack. Dr. Stout created Southwest Technologies in 1981 with the vision of "treating the world well," a statement that followed him throughout life. In 1987, he received FDA permission to expand Elasto-Gel™ technology into applications for wound and scar management and for padding materials. He continued to develop health care products while always keeping patients' needs in mind. Those who knew him say he was always happy to tell stories about Southwest Technologies and how it got its start.

In 2001, Dr. Stout received the International Man of the Year Award for his developments in wound care products; he was also nominated for Who's Who for the last twenty years both nationally and internationally. Dr. Stout was invited to be a guest speaker at multiple state, national, and international health care symposia. He held numerous patents and spent his life bringing innovative technologies to the medical community.

Southwest Technologies continues to serve the wound care market with Dr. Stout's philosophy of "treating the world well"; they are committed to manufacturing, marketing, and distributing products of high quality to offer patients comfort and healing.
