ACTICOAT* Moisture Control
ACTICOAT* Moisture Control is an absorbent three-layer dressing consisting of a silver-coated polyurethane layer, a polyurethane foam layer and a waterproof film layer. Provides an effective barrier to bacterial penetration.
• Proprietary silver technology
• Broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against over 150 organisms including 200 strains of MRSA and 5 organisms that carry the NDM-1 enzyme (in vitro)
• Up to seven day wear time
• Provides bactericidal activity within 30 minutes
• May help reduce the risk of infection
• Can be used on extensive body surface area wounds and over debrided wounds
• Can be cut to size
ACTICOAT* Moisture Control Dressing is indicated for use in light to moderately exuding partial-thickness wounds including decubitus ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, and donor sites. ACTICOAT* Moisture Control may be used over debrided and partial-thickness wounds.
Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver. During MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination, remove from area within the anatomical field being imaged. Prior to administering radiation therapy, remove ACTICOAT*. A new dressing can be applied following treatment.
For external use only. ACTICOAT* is not compatible with oil-based products, such as petrolatum. Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements (e.g. EEG and ECG).
ACTICOAT* should only be used on premature infants (less than 37 weeks gestation) when the clinical benefit outweighs potential risks. No clinical data is available in this age group and only limited data is available for use in neonates.
ACTICOAT* is not intended to provide sole treatment for infected wounds.
ACTICOAT* may be used on infected wounds which are being managed per local clinical protocol.
May cause transient discoloring of surrounding skin.
Avoid exposure to temperatures above 120°F (50°C). Protect from light.

First- and Second-Degree Burns
Non/Minimally Exudating Wounds
Cleans wound according to local protocol. (Do not use saline.)
Choose a dressing that is larger than the wound. Remove the ACTICOAT* Moisture Control dressing from the pack using an aseptic technique.
Cut to shape as necessary for awkward areas. The dressing should not be moistened prior to use as it is indicated for use on exuding wounds. Place the silver layer in intimate contact with the wound bed, ensuring the entire surface is covered.
Secure with an appropriate secondary retention dressing. ACTICOAT* Moisture Control may be used under compression bandages. Cut the dressing to the size of the wound, check regularly and change if strikethrough of exudate occurs.
For detailed product information, including indications for use, contraindications, precautions and warnings, please consult the product's Instructions for Use (IFU) prior to use.
ACTICOAT* Moisture Control may be left in place over a wound for up to seven days, but will require earlier changing if a strikethrough of exudate occurs. The dressing may adhere if used on lightly exuding wounds. If the dressing is not easily removed, moisten or soak to assist removal and avoid disruption of the wound.
