Benefits

• Vapor-permeable polyurethane membrane acts as a barrier to liquid and external contamination
• Multilayer exudate management designed to absorb exudate and prevent maceration of periwound skin
• Gentle silicone adhesive facilitates application and retention of the dressing to intact skin
• Layer does not stick to the surface of a wound or cause trauma to delicate new tissue upon removal

Indications

CovaWound™ Silicone dressing is indicated for the management of lightly to heavily exuding wounds such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure injuries, traumatic and surgical wounds, and superficial and partial-thickness burns. CovaWound™ Silicone (heel) is indicated for wounds on the heel. CovaWound™ Silicone (sacrum) is indicated for wounds on the sacrum. CovaWound™ Silicone dressing can be used under compression.

Contraindications

CovaWound™ Silicone dressing should not be used on third-degree burns or on patients with a known allergy or sensitivity to any components of the dressing.

Warnings and Precautions

If sensitivity to CovaWound™ Silicone dressing develops, discontinue use. When CovaWound™ Silicone dressing is applied to sloughy wounds, it may initially appear to increase in size due to autolytic debridement promoted by the moist conditions produced beneath the dressing. This is normal and to be expected. CovaWound™ Silicone dressing should not be used with oxidizing solutions, such as hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide. If reused, cross-contamination or infection may occur. In case of signs of clinical infection, consult a health care professional for adequate infection treatment.

Mode of Use/Application

Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly. Remove the release liner and apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch.
• If using CovaWound™ Silicone dressing (heel), remove the release liner and apply to the heel.
• If using CovaWound™ Silicone dressing (sacrum), remove the release liner and apply to the sacrum.
For best results, the CovaWound™ Silicone dressing wound pad should overlap the wound edges by at least 3/4" (2cm).

Removal & Change Frequency

CovaWound™ Silicone dressing should be changed when visible signs of exudate approach the edge of the foam. CovaWound™ Silicone dressing may be left in place for up to 7 days, depending on the patient, the condition of the wound and surrounding skin or as indicated by accepted clinical practice. The cumulative use of CovaWound™ Silicone dressing should not exceed 30 days.
