The Orpyx® Sensory Insole program helps reduce the risk of DFUs through nurse-based monitoring of plantar pressure, temperature, activity and usage for at-risk patients with diabetes or peripheral neuropathy.
Orpyx® is a med tech+touch company transforming diabetic limb management. We aim to prevent diabetic foot ulcers and amputations in at-risk populations by utilizing cutting-edge technology, comprehensive engagement and education strategies, and nurse-based interventions.
• With real-time alerts from the Orpyx App, patients can be notified where sustained pressure is present on their feet. This provides an opportunity to offload the pressure, a leading cause of DFU development.
• Credentialed remote nurses provide personalized coaching to encourage adherence for wearing prescribed footwear and custom orthotics. Monthly baseline calls are scheduled with patients, and additional calls are made as needed based on issues or trends identified through the monitoring system. Patients can connect with nurses via phone or text, based on their preference, ensuring seamless and responsive communication.
• We recognize every patient is unique. Orpyx’s personalized temperature algorithms help detect inflammation and tissue damage by monitoring tissue temperature changes, thereby minimizing false alerts.
• The program integrates effortlessly into existing workflows, providing intuitive reports that support clinical decision-making and help ensure that patients receive optimal care. Orpyx works closely with patients to address concerning trends early by educating and coaching them to modify behaviors that could lead to complications. This proactive approach ensures that most issues are resolved without needing escalation. As a result, only 4% of cases are escalated to the provider, as Orpyx nurses work directly with patients to address concerns, make behavior changes, and provide education to help prevent issues from requiring clinical intervention.
• Step count and movement tracking encourages a healthy lifestyle and supports gradual sustained activity to reduce the risk of adverse health events. Data collected through the insoles offers valuable insights, allowing providers to make data-driven decisions that align with each patient’s foot care goals and needs. The Orpyx system securely transmits and encrypts all data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards.
The Orpyx Sensory Insole System has two product options:
• Orpyx Custom Insoles: custom fabricated shoe insoles based on your foot impression, or;
• The Orpyx Flex Insoles: non-custom prefabricated shoe insoles
• Both options include the Orpyx Sensory Technology: a powered limb overload warning technology, compatible with the Orpyx Custom Insoles and Orpyx Flex Insoles. It is intended for monitoring physiological parameters, such as plantar pressure, motion, and temperature, and providing real-time cues for pressure offloading
The Orpyx Sensory Insole System is intended to act as an adjunct to standard foot care, not a replacement. It is designed for use throughout everyday activities. When using with an active foot ulcer, please notify your healthcare professional.
