Select a sheet of Endoform® Natural which is slightly larger than the wound and apply it aseptically. The sheet can be applied whole or trimmed to contact the wound margins. Multiple sheets can be used to cover the entire wound bed. For ease of handling, apply Endoform® Natural by placing the dry material in the wound and rehydrating with exudate or sterile saline until moistened. Ensure that Endoform® Natural conforms to the underlying wound bed. When rehydrated, Endoform® Natural transforms into a soft conforming sheet. To protect Endoform® Natural from adhering to the cover dressing, consider applying a non-adherent dressing over the top. If antimicrobial properties are warranted, consider using Endoform® Antimicrobial instead, and/or Hydrofera Blue secondary dressings. The secondary dressing should be changed according to standard of care, taking into account the level of exudate.
At the next dressing change, carefully cleanse the wound surface in accordance with established procedures. Endoform® Natural is naturally incorporated into the wound over time. At the next dressing change (three to seven days after) residual Endoform® may or may not be observed depending on wound protease levels. If no residual Endoform® Natural is observed in the wound bed, consider increasing the amount applied to help modulate protease levels. If some residual Endoform® is observed, this indicates that protease levels are balanced. Do not debride, as it contains extracellular matrix components that assist in wound healing. If the product has overlapped onto the periwound area, it may be gently removed around the edges if desired. Depending on the exudate color, residual Endoform® may appear off-white to golden. Gently irrigate and re-apply Endoform® at the same amount as the previous application or less. Change the cover dressing as needed, and when Endoform® is re-applied.
