If applicable, remove the current dressing from the wound bed. Irrigate the wound bed and periwound area with Microcyn® solution to remove debris and exudate. Refresh the treated area with additional solution; allow it to pool in the wound bed areas that have sufficient depth. Saturate the wound dressing with Microcyn® solution, and then apply it to the wound bed for the recommended contact time.
For wound locations or types that do not allow for pre-soaked dressing, pour directly onto the wound bed to flush or flood for the required contact time. Use in various types of baths to soak the wound for the required contact time. Continue applying Microcyn® solution to keep the dressing moist.
Contact time for normal use is 5-10 minutes per application. Heavy amounts of necrotic tissue and slough may require 10-15 minutes using a generous amount of Microcyn® solution and absorbent dressing to irrigate and soak the wound prior to debridement.
