Indications

Oleeva® Fabric is intended for the prevention or reduction of new or old hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from any type of injury to the skin that may cause a scar to form.

Contraindications

Patients with known sensitivities to silicone should not wear Oleeva® Fabric. With any topical material applied directly to the skin's surface, some type of reaction is possible. If a reaction does occur, stop using Oleeva® Fabric until your skin has returned to normal. This may be due to a sweat rash. Good daily hygiene and cleaning of Oleeva® Fabric will help to aid in the prevention of a rash from occurring.
If you have sensitive skin, decrease usage, then gradually increase product usage until a comfortable time of application has been reached.
Do not use creams, lotions or ointments with Oleeva® Fabric as they may interfere with the performance of Oleeva® Fabric and/or cause skin irritation.
It is not recommended to use Oleeva® Fabric while exercising or swimming as sweat, excessive water or debris (e.g., sand and chlorine) will impact the properties of Oleeva® Fabric and reduce its life expectancy and ability to adhere to the skin.
The ability of Oleeva® Fabric to stick to your skin may also vary depending on your genetics, age, race, care of Oleeva® Fabric and the area of the body where it has been applied, such as areas containing joints that can flex. In cases where Oleeva® Fabric does not adhere well to the skin, external fixation of the product is recommended. It is Oleeva® Fabric itself, not the stickiness, that facilitates effective scar healing, so maintaining contact with the skin is very important.
DO NOT USE ON OPEN WOUNDS.
Oleeva® Fabric should never be used over sutures, staples or open wounds (scar should be fully closed and the skin intact/healed) and there should be no exudates, oozing or crusting in the area or scabs present.

Hypertrophic Scars/Keloids

Mode of Use/Application

Wash and dry hands and scar area with very warm water and plain soap. Do not use a soap that contains moisturizer, lotion or oil. Remove Oleeva® Fabric from the package. Ensure Oleeva® Fabric completely covers the scar. If necessary, use sharp scissors to trim the product to size and allow for a minimum of 1/2" area around the entire scar in order to allow for better adhesion to the skin surface. Store any remaining Oleeva® Fabric in a dry place, such as the package the Oleeva® Fabric came in. Peel off the protective liner from the adhesive side of the product (silicone side) taking care not to overly stretch the material. Apply Oleeva® Fabric sticky-side down onto the scar and gently smooth it with your fingers. Helpful hint: for a larger area, remove a small portion of the protective liner and begin to apply Oleeva® Fabric to the scar, peeling the remaining protective liner a little at a time while pressing Oleeva® Fabric all along the scar. This will prevent the product from folding over and sticking to itself.

Oleeva® Fabric is recommended to be worn between 12 and 23 hours a day for maximum benefit. Begin wearing Oleeva® Fabric for 12 hours for the first day and then gradually increase to as much as 23 hours a day.

Note: Medical tape or elastic wraps may be used to aid in securing Oleeva® Fabric to the skin over mobile surface areas such as joints. If Oleeva® Fabric requires an additional means of adhesion to stay securely in place, this does not mean the sheet is any less effective. The strength of the adhesive quality does not impact the effectiveness of the silicone.

Removal & Change Frequency

Remove Oleeva® Fabric and wash the scar area and both sides of Oleeva® Fabric at least once per day with very warm water and plain, basic soap. Do not use a soap that contains moisturizer, lotion or oil. Bio Med Sciences' Silicone Gel Cleanser is recommended for maintaining optimal product performance. It is important to rub soap or gel cleanser into the sticky (silicone) side and rinse well to ensure removal of all debris and traces of soap. Proper care of Oleeva® Fabric is critical to maintain its adhesiveness. Place Oleeva® Fabric on a clean surface and allow to dry prior to re-application. It is recommended that a second piece of Oleeva® Fabric is ordered so one piece is worn while the other is drying.
