GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing is a reinforced fast-gelling dressing made of non-woven high G alginate with carboxymethylcellulose and ionic silver for rapid antimicrobial action. Reinforced for intact removal.
• Silver ions protect the dressing from a broad spectrum of microorganisms over a period of up to 14 days based on in vitro testing
• Fast initial silver elution quickly establishes an effective level of antimicrobial activity
• Soft and highly absorbent gelling fibers wick and retain exudate away from the wound bed
• Cohesive reinforced fiber construction facilitates easy intact/one-piece atraumatic removal
• Odor reduction results from the antibacterial effect in the dressing
GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing is indicated for moderate to heavily exuding partial- to full-thickness wounds such as: post-operative wounds, trauma wounds (dermal lesions, trauma injuries or incisions), leg ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, graft and donor sites, post-operative surgical wounds and first- and second-degree burns. GEMCORE360˚ Silver Alginate Antimicrobial Wound Dressing is indicated for external use only and can also be used under compression bandages. As GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing contains alginate, it may assist in supporting the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds.
Contraindicated for use on dry eschar, third-degree burns, direct application on dry or lightly exuding wounds, to control heavy bleeding and individuals with known sensitivity to alginates and/or silver. Not for surgical implantation.
Systemic antimicrobial therapy should be considered when wound infection is evident. GEMCORE360˚ Silver Alginate Antimicrobial Wound Dressing may be used, under medical supervision, in conjunction with systemic antibiotics.
The dressing may adhere if used on dry or very lightly exuding wounds. If the dressing is not easily removed, moisten it with sterile saline solution prior to removal.
The dressing performance may be impaired by excess use of petroleum-based ointments.
Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements, e.g., electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG).
The dressing must be removed prior to patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations.
In the event of clinical infection, topical silver does not replace the need for systemic therapy or other adequate infection treatment.
Clinicians/health care professionals should be aware that there is very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates.
Store at room temperature (10°C-25°C, 50°F-77°F). Keep dry.
Moderate/Highly Exudating Wounds
Debride when necessary and irrigate the wound site in accordance with standard protocols. Remove excess solution from surrounding skin.
Select a size of GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing that is slightly larger than the wound.
Cut (using sterile scissors) or fold the dressing to fit the wound. Loosely fill deep wounds, ensuring the dressing does not overlap the wound margins.
Apply to wound bed directly.
Cover GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
Dispose of unused dressing material, according to local procedures and guidelines, due to risk of contamination.
Dressing change frequency will depend on wound condition and the level of exudate. Initially, it may be necessary to change the dressing every 24 hours.
Reapply GEMCORE360°™ Silver Alginate Wound Dressing when the secondary dressing has reached its absorbent capacity or whenever good wound care practice dictates that the dressing should be changed.
Gently remove the secondary dressing.
If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline solution prior to removal.
Gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard.
Irrigate the wound site in accordance with standard protocols prior to application of a new dressing.
May be left in place for up to seven days.
GEMCORE360° Hydrocolloid, GEMCORE360° Foam Dressing or other appropriate secondary dressing.
