IODOSORB* contains 0.9% weight per weight iodine and should not be used in patients with known or suspected iodine sensitivity.
IODOSORB* Cadexomer Iodine Gel is indicated for use in cleaning wet ulcers and wounds such as venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
IODOSORB* Dressings are contraindicated in patients with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis or patients with a history of Grave's Disease or non-toxic nodular goiter. Patients with a history of any thyroid disorder are more susceptible to alteration in thyroid metabolism with long-term IODOSORB* therapy. Not to be used by pregnant or lactating women as iodine is absorbed systemically. IODOSORB* is not effective in cleaning dry wounds.
The total amount of IODOSORB* used in one week must not exceed 5.3oz (150g) and a single application should not exceed 1.8oz (50g), unless a doctor has advised otherwise. Do not use continuously for more than three months. To minimize the possibility of cross-contamination, a single IODOSORB* pad should be limited to use on one patient.
Some patients may experience slight transient pain during the first hour of application.
Store at controlled room temperature 59°F-77°F (15°C-25°C).

Clean the wound and the surrounding area with a gentle stream of either sterile water or saline. Do not dry the wound surface. Apply IODOSORB* Gel on to a non-adherent gauze and apply to the wound at a depth of 3mm to 4mm. Place the gel face of the gauze on the wound surface and apply mild pressure for dressing placement. Cover with a secondary dressing like ALLEVYN* LIFE or ALLEVYN* Gentle Border.
For detailed product information, including indications for use, contraindications, precautions and warnings, please consult the product's Instructions for Use (IFU) prior to use.
A change in color (from brown to yellow/gray) indicates when IODOSORB* Dressings should be changed, usually two to three times a week. Remove the existing dressing by moistening with saline if adhering to the wound surface. Remove any remaining IODOSORB* with a gentle stream of saline or sterile water if applicable. Gently blot away excess fluid before reapplying IODOSORB* Gel.
IODOSORB* Dressings can be used under compression therapy.
